Missions
Missions

Our missions program provides members and constituents the opportunity to make Christ’s love known to people in the local community, the country, and foreign nations through a number of projects and activities including:

  • Layette Ministry – throughout the year, individuals purchase clothing and other necessities for newborn babies. These are assembled in May and displayed on Mother’s Day, prior to being donated to organizations that assist unwed and indigent mothers.
  • Serving lunch at The Baldwin Center in Pontiac on the fifth Saturday in months that have a fifth Saturday. The Baldwin Center is human services agency that provides over 25 programs for the surrounding neighborhood.
  • Sharing Cross Ministry – members and constituents donate clothing and food to maintain an as-needed stock that can be given to members of the local community who are in need.
  • United Methodist Committee on Relief – members and constituents donate money that goes for national and international disaster relief.
  • South Oakland Shelter (SOS) - Our church hosts 25 to 30 homeless men, women & children for one week in October. Volunteers are always welcomed to assist in this endeavor.
  • Prayer Shawl Ministry - On the first Monday of the month, volunteers get together at 1:00 PM to knit/crochet prayer shawls.  The shawls are prayed over as they are being made and also blessed in a church service. The shawls are then given to those in need of comfort.
